Park Shore & The Moorings: Coastal Naples at Its Best
Along Gulf Shore Boulevard North, just north of downtown, two of Naples' most sought-after neighborhoods sit side by side: The Moorings and Park Shore. Together they offer some of the best of coastal Naples, with Gulf beaches, quiet waterways, and easy access to shopping and dining.
The Moorings dates to 1957, when developer Milton Link bought a 300-acre property known as the Crayton Tract. With backing from Cuban sugar entrepreneur Julio Lobo, the development grew to about 960 acres. Link set aside 500 feet of Gulf beachfront for the exclusive use of Moorings residents, and the Moorings Beach Park on Gulf Shore Boulevard North is still a neighborhood favorite. Today the area is known for its tree-lined streets, single-family homes, waterfront properties along Moorings Bay and its waterways, and a range of condominiums.
Just to the north, Park Shore was still undeveloped land in the mid-1960s. Its developers dug Venetian Bay, and the neighborhood grew through the 1970s and 1980s into a planned community of homes, villas, and the beachfront high-rise condominiums that line Gulf Shore Boulevard today. In the late 1980s, Venetian Village opened on the bay, and a second phase followed in 1990. It is now a local favorite for waterfront dining, boutiques, and galleries.
